Overview

UptimeSignal ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We keep things simple: we collect only what we need to provide the service, and we don't sell your data.

Data We Collect

Account Information

Your email address, which we use for authentication and to send you alerts about your monitored endpoints.

Monitor Configuration

The URLs you add for monitoring, along with your preferred check intervals, alert settings, and custom headers if configured.

Monitoring Data

Response times, status codes, and availability history for your monitored endpoints. This data is retained according to your plan (7 days for free, 90 days for Pro).

Payment Information

If you subscribe to Pro, Stripe handles all payment processing. We don't store your credit card details, only a reference to your Stripe customer ID.

Usage Analytics

We use two analytics tools to understand how people find and use UptimeSignal so we can improve it:

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics: a cookieless, privacy-first tool that measures aggregate traffic (page views, referrers, approximate country). It sets no cookies and does not track individuals, so it runs with no consent required.
  • PostHog: product analytics, hosted in the EU. It helps us see which pages and product features actually help. PostHog may collect page views, in-app interactions, approximate location (derived from IP, which is not stored), and device/browser information. On our app it is used to understand how the product is used; on our marketing pages it is limited to page views only.

Analytics & Cookies (PostHog)

What PostHog collects: page views, in-app interactions (clicks and navigation within the app), approximate location, and device/browser details. We use this only to improve the product, never to sell or share with advertising networks.

Cookies and consent: PostHog sets a small number of first-party cookies only after you consent. If you are in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, no PostHog cookies are set and no behavioral data is collected unless you accept via our consent banner (opt-in). Everywhere else, analytics are on by default and you can opt out at any time from the notice shown on first visit.

How to withdraw consent: you can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's site data for UptimeSignal, which removes your stored preference and re-shows the banner, or by emailing us at [email protected]. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless and cannot be opted out of because it never identifies you.

How We Use Your Data

  • To provide the monitoring service and send you alerts
  • To authenticate you when you log in
  • To process payments (via Stripe)
  • To send important service updates (rarely, and never marketing)
  • To improve the service based on aggregate usage patterns

Data Sharing

We don't sell your data. We share data only with:

  • Cloudflare – Our infrastructure provider (hosting, database)
  • Stripe – Payment processing
  • Resend – Transactional emails (magic links, alerts)
  • PostHog – Product analytics, EU-hosted (consent-gated; see Cookie Notice)

Data Security

All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices. Authentication uses secure, time-limited magic links, no passwords to steal or leak.

Your Rights

You can:

  • Export your monitoring data at any time
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Request a copy of all data we hold about you

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to maintain your login session. We also set a small number of product-analytics cookies (PostHog), but only after you consent (see Cookie Notice). We don't use third-party advertising cookies and we don't sell your data.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll notify you via email. Minor clarifications may be made without notice.
